TWO MODES NIGHT LIGHT CIRCUIT FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT CONTROL IN SOUTH AFRICA
1.1 Introduction
Two modes night light circuit is the circuit that operates in two modes that is in
dimmer and flash mode. This circuit operates under the aid of two LM 358 operational
amplifiers.
1.2 Project problem statement
In many of our homes uses single mode night light that is full mode, that operates in a
single mode at all the time so it bring difficulties when full light is not needed and
when one want to operate in another mode.
1.3 Project objectives
1.3.1 Main objective
To design full functional two modes night light circuit.
1.3.2 Specific objective
To design and run a circuit that will be useful in each time that is reading, sleeping
etc.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROJECT
Can be used in studying or eating by switching it in full mode
and also by switching it in dimmer mode can be used at sleeping time to avoid full light
disturbance.
1.4 Existing System
In the existing block diagram, there are five categories of two mode night light circuit namely;
i. Input
ii. Operational amplifier
iii. Switching transistor
iv. Output
v. Battery
- INPUT
This deliver signal and select it to the operational amplifier in order to be
amplified. - OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIER
This amplifies the signal obtained from input and selects it to the switching
transistor. - SWITCHING TRANSISTORS
It switches the signal obtained from operational amplifiers to the output as a light. - OUTPUT
This is the light given out by the circuit - BATTERY
This supply power to all parts of the system

Circuit operation:
This is the circuit that can be used in two modes. The dimmer mode and a flashing mode. The
circuit is based on dual opamp LM 358 and associated components. The first o pamp is wired as a
pulse generator and the second o pamp is wired as a comparator. When the switch S1 is open the
circuit is in dimmer mode where the intensity of the lamp can be varied by varying the POT R9.
When the switch S1 is closed the circuit works in the flashing mode where the rate of flashing
can be varied.
