
DESIGNING OF AN AUTOMATIC CONTROLLER OF WATER OVERFLOWING OF DOMESTIC TANK OF MR.BENARD MVULE AT MWANAGATI, DAR ES SALAAM FOR FLUID REDUCTION
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Water is a source of life, all living organism gets nourishment from water in the different respective ways of their
life styles, and the land can be cooled by water. Therefore, it is outmost importance to preserve water. Although
this project proposed to the domestic tank of Mr. Yared Msonjela but there are many houses, that there are
unnecessary wastage of water due to overflow in Overhead Tanks
1.1 WATER OVERFLOWING CONTROLLER
An Automatic Water overflowing Controller can provide a solution to the problem of water wastage during
filling to the tank. The operation of water overflowing controller works upon the fact that water conducts
electricity. So it can be used to open or close a circuit, as the water level rises or falls. The different circuits in
the controller send different signals; these signals used to switch ON or OFF the motor pump as per
requirements.
1.2 PROBLEM STATEMENT OF THE PROJECT.
The available sources of water utilized now days decreasing every moment and consumers are still increasing.
This signifies the need to preserve our fresh water resources. Therefore, it is an ideal to use technology to make
an effective way that will control water level to the tank to prevent water wastage because every drop of it has a
value. The available controls of flow of water when filling to the tank allow a space of wastage of it since it is a
manual controlling operation. This project wants to introduce a circuit that will control water level flow to the
tank automatically. The design will solve the problem of controlling and losing of water and will contribute the
conservation of water for future generation and us.
1.3. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
Main Objectives.
To control water overflowing to the tank, so as prevent water wastage
Specific objectives.
To design a circuit that will automatically control water over desired level to the tank.
To test the designed circuit.
To build a prototype of a designed circuit.
Significance of the Objectives
The system is beneficial to the rural and urban areas
It is efficiency in utilization of available sources of water
It contribute a conservation of water
1.4 THE EXISTING SYSTEM.

Although this project proposed to the domestic tank of Mr. Yared Msonjela but there are many houses, that there are unnecessary wastage of water due to overflow in Overhead Tanks. This because there is no device fitted to control the water overflowing when the pump started to fill the water to the tank.
1.6 THE EXISTING SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The available system of the water pump (switching) starting and stopping operated manually, which
allow a space of water wastage due to over flowing to the tank, since when the operator is not near
around or carrying other activities. The major problem experienced is unnecessary wastage of water.
This problem is due of lack of an automatic switching and controlling of over flowing of water in the
system

1.7 PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION OF EXISTING SYSTEM
The system analyzed by considering the designation of the circuit. The circuit comprises the power
supply of 230Vac that feed into water pump motor in which operated manually by starting and stopping
the motor using the DP switch. The operator required to switch ON the motor when fills water to the
tank and after the tank will be fully of water again the operator required to switch OFF the pump. This
process is not advantageous due to the lack of full of control of water that tend to make water wastage
when the tank will be over fully in which the operator is not easy to observewhen the operator is not
near around or carrying other activities, that let water to drop unnecessary.
