Activate Windows 10 with a product key

  • For installation of Windows 10, enter your product licence key.
  • Press the Windows key, go to Settings > Update and Security > Activation.
  • Press the Change Product key.
  • Enter your product key into pop-up box and press Next.
  • Press Activate.

Activate Windows 10 with a digital license

  • While beginning activation, select ‘I don’t have a product key’ option.
  • Setup and login into Windows 10 with your linked Microsoft account.

The Windows 10 will be automatically activated at this point. In case you had made hardware changes, follow the next steps:

  • Press the Windows key, then go to Settings > Update and Security > Activation.
  • If Windows is not activated, search and press ‘Troubleshoot’.
  • Select ‘Activate Windows’ in the new window and then Activate. Or, select ‘I changed hardware on this device recently’, if applicable.
  • If you get sign in prompts, follow them using Microsoft account linked to your digital licence.

  • Press Activate.

Your digital license should be there and your copy of Windows 10 will be activated.

Activate Windows 10 in Command Prompt

  • Open Powershell or the Command Prompt and type in slmgr /ato and press Enter.
  • Hopefully, you should see Product key activated successfuly.
  • If you have a new or different product key, type in slmgr /ipk PRODUCT KEY replacing PRODUCT KEY with your new key.
  • If successful, you will see Installed product key successfully.

Activate Windows 10 with the Kms Client Key

For this method, you need to open Command Prompt as an administrator. Follow the steps given below:

  1. Open the Start menu, search for “cmd” and run it as administrator.

  • The next step is to set KMS machine address using the command “slmgr /skms kms8.msguides.com” to get connected to KMS server.
