Yanga Sc

Yanga is a football club from Jangwani, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Benjamin Mkapa Stadium is the home of the club, which was founded in 1935.

Wananchi (Citizens) and Yanga (Young Boys) are two of their nicknames. Along with cross-city rivals Simba, Young Africans is one of Tanzania’s two largest clubs. The team has won 22 league championships and four domestic cups, as well as competing in many editions of the CAF Champions League. They’re also one of East Africa’s most successful clubs, having won the CECAFA Club Championship five times.

The club became a symbol of the anti-colonial struggle and was popular among Africans. Young Africans were linked with nationalists and independence warriors, prompting the political party TANU to use yellow and green its major colors. In Tanzanian football, Young Africans is the most successful and powerful team. The club is undergoing a change, with investors owning 49 percent of the club and club members owning the remaining 51 percent.

The Dar es Salaam (better known as Kariakoo) derby pits the club against Simba, a cross-city opponent. As one of the most well-known African derbies, it was placed fifth.

Simba Sports Club is a Tanzanian football club that is headquartered in Kariakoo, Dar es Salaam. The club was formerly known as Eagles before changing its name to Sunderland in 1936. They were nicknamed Simba in 1971. (Swahili for “Lion”).
